Yerba Maté | Organic
Our certified organic, Fair Trade yerba maté is sourced from the lush rainforests of Paraguay, where the leaves of Ilex paraguariensis have been cherished for centuries as a sacred communal drink. Named after the traditional gourd (mate) and shared straw (bombilla), this tea symbolizes friendship and connection—each sip carries the legacy of Guarani Indigenous tradition.

HOW TO BREW
TRADITIONAL METHOD (For the purist)
Prep your gourd: Fill ⅔ with loose leaves. Tilt to form a slope.
Awaken the leaves: Add a splash of cool water, then wait 1 minute.
First pour: Add 160–180°F water (never boiling!) beside the slope. Sip through a bombilla.
Re-steep: Refill 5+ times—each cup mellower and sweeter.
QUICK METHODS (Modern convenience)
☕ Teapot/Strainer: 1 tsp per 8 oz hot water (175°F). Steep 3–5 mins.
🚀 French Press: 1 tbsp per 12 oz. Pre-rinse leaves with cool water, then add warm water. Don’t stir!
BEYOND THE CUP: DIY SKINCARE
Yerba maté’s antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds make it a powerful addition to homemade skincare:
🧖♀️ Revitalizing Face Mask
Mix 1 tsp powdered maté + 1 tsp honey + 1 tsp yogurt. Apply for 10 mins to brighten tired skin.
💆♀️ Energizing Eye Compress
Steep 1 tbsp in cool water, soak cotton pads, and place over eyes to reduce puffiness.
🌿 Detox Bath Soak
Brew ¼ cup maté in 2 cups hot water, strain, and add to bathwater for a skin-toning soak.
