We adore these wood chopsticks from Tropical Salvage. Based in Portland, Tropical Salvage creates their products from woods that would otherwise be lost, burned, or left to decay - not cut down trees. They salvage wood from deconstructed buildings, rivers, landslides, government land conversion projects, plantation culls and volcanic lahars.

Teak has long been valued for its strength, beauty, and resilience—used in everything from traditional homes to daily kitchen tools. Teak wood is naturally rich in oils, making it resistant to water, mold, and cracking—ideal for daily use. It won’t warp or absorb flavors, and it holds up beautifully over time with minimal upkeep.

Care instructions:
Hand wash and dry after use. Avoid soaking or dishwashers. Occasionally apply a light coat of food-safe oil to maintain the wood’s natural finish. Treated well, these chopsticks will last for years and take on a beautiful patina with age.

Note:
Because these are made from natural teak, expect variation in grain and tone—each pair is unique, shaped by the tree it came from and the maker’s hand.
