A Safer Scrubber Recipe

Sometimes elbow grease just won’t cut it. Sometimes your scrub brush needs a sidekick. And, always, we want to keep toxicity and waste to an absolute minimum. So while others may reach for chemical-packed (albeit very effective) soft scrubs and scouring powders on the grocery store shelves, we take a few minutes out of our routines every so often to mix-up this outrageously simple scrubber paste. With just a few bulk ingredients -- some of which you may already have on hand -- you’ll have a ready-to-use paste that is safe for even kids to use and extraordinarily effective for hard to clean surfaces, like water-stained grout and sticky sinks.

INGREDIENTS

INSTRUCTIONS

In a medium bowl, mix together the soap and baking soda.
Stir in water and then vinegar, mixing well to combine.
Add essential oil, if using.
Transfer to an air-tight glass container.
NOTE: The consistency should be a thick paste with a slight graininess to it. If the mixture runs off the spoon add small amounts of baking soda -- mixing thoroughly between additions -- until reaching a thick paste consistency.
USAGE
Using a dry cloth, spread the paste over your soiled area and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Spray with vinegar cleaner or dampen with water and scrub to remove debris or simply wipe away with a wet cloth. If you need extra disinfecting power, considering spraying Hydrogen Peroxide over the paste before scrubbing or wiping away.

We hope you love this recipe as much as we do. And don’t forget, when you return 20 empty bulk containers, you receive $20 credit towards your next order!
