Kindred Turns One

Well folks, we’ve been at it for a year. 

While a calendar year doesn’t really seem like a long time in the scheme of things, it certainly has felt that way. The manner and quantity in which Kindred has grown in its first year feels like something that happened miraculously and exponentially. There have been weeks that have zoomed by filled with events, improvement projects, store rearranges, and the Herculean efforts that have gone into making each occasion a success.  We have been surviving a pandemic. We have moved the shop in the snow. We have been doing our best to stay open to what the future holds, to listen to our community, to be a place that is more than a store. 

So, as our little shop turns one, we first want to say thank you!  Without our Kindred Spirits (yeah, corny, we know)-- the shop as we know it wouldn’t exist.  Thanks for showing up in a pandemic, for shopping, for attending our events, for offering feedback, for conversations and new friendships, for helping with setups and takedowns and everything in between.  Our little team has been so grateful to continue to create a space for all of us, and to have y’all continue to show up.  Your support of us is the reason why we are here, still building and making and hosting and learning and dreaming and figuring out how we can keep making this a comfortable, approachable, and equitable space for this community.  It takes a village.  

In the coming year, you can expect a few things from the Kindred crew.  We will continue to stay curious, and open, and as ready as we can be for whatever is in store.  (ha, puns are fun.) You can expect that the shop will continue to be a space if you need low waste essentials and beautiful additions to your home.  You can expect *way* more plants.  You can expect that we’ll help you as we can, and learn alongside you.  You can expect that we’ll listen.  You can expect that we’ll be here even if you wanna just stop by and hang out with us for a little bit.  You can expect us to be here, cause we will be.

With all that said, ITS PARTY TIME, BABIES.  At the end of October, we are going to be hosting our Anniversary Party! Shenanigans will ensue, there will be food and drinks. There will be music, maybe some awkward booty shakin’, a costume contest, and an auction, and and and….well. We’re still putting together the details, but you can bet it’ll be a good time. You’re invited! Bring your friends, wear a costume, or dress up, or wear sweats. We don’t really mind how you show up, just keep showing up like y’all have over the last year. Just come as you are. Celebrate with us, and let us celebrate you for hanging out with us over this crazy, awesome, tiring, beautiful, community building year.

Keep an eye out for some ridiculously sweet Instagram posts that our beloved Emily has put together detailing some of the best parts of Kindred.  It’ll be a week of tiny tear jerkers, trust us on that.  AND COME TO OUR PARTY ON OCT 30TH. We love you, we’re grateful for you, and we’ll seeya around!
